DNV GL, the world’s largest resource of independent energy experts and certification body, awarded a component certificate to Spanish technology company Ingeteam for its new wind-frequency converter, INGECON WIND DFM 3000 family.

The INGECON WIND Full Converter MV Series 3000-10000 is built for easy maintenance and optimized to be compatible with all generator technologies.

The certificate confirms that the INGECON WIND Full Converter MV Series 3000-10000 family meets all globally applicable requirements for turbines for on and offshore use. The wind-frequency converter is the first electrical component certified according to DNV GL’s new Certification Scheme for type and component certification of wind turbines, the DNVGL-SE-0441.

The certificate was presented by DNV GL representatives Mike Wöbbeking, Head of Certification Body, and Dr. Matthias-Klaus Schwarz, Head of Section Electrical System at DNV GL – Energy to Ingeteam’s  Alberto Barcia González, R&D General Services Manager, Wind Business Unit.

“Following the previous certification of our INGECON WIND DFM 3000 converter with DNV GL last year, we are very happy of continue this excellent relationship with the certification body,” said Ana Goyen, Deputy Director, Wind Business Unit at Ingeteam. “Being one of the first companies in the wind-power conversion business to have a Medium Voltage product DNV GL certified demonstrates the level of innovation and quality at Ingeteam.”

High modularity for offshore applications minimizing energy loss Full redundant control hardware, preventing turbine downtime

INGECON WIND Full Converter MV Series is equipped with full redundant control hardware, minimizing energy losses and preventing wind-turbine downtime.

The service specification identifies DNV GL’s services for type and component certification of onshore and offshore wind turbines. Furthermore, the wind-frequency converter has been certified according to all DNV GL and IEC criteria. During the thorough process, DNV GL examined the converter according to all aspects of design and manufacture to ensure safety and quality.

“This track record of certificates, now with the INGECON WIND Full Converter MV Series 3000-10000,  shows the acceptance of the industry and makes the process of new turbine development easier, speeding up the integration of our components and enriching the relationship with our customers,” added Goyen.

Mike Wöbbeking, Head of Certification Body at DNV GL, noted: “We are very pleased to continue our good working relationship with Ingeteam and supporting the company in their goal to demonstrate that their latest converter is meeting the highest safety and reliability requirements, to deliver high performance.”
