Ocean Winds adopts maintenance management services from Shoreline Winds for global wind portfolio

By WPED Staff | January 25, 2022

Software developer Shoreline Wind has been selected by Ocean Winds, a global offshore wind developer, to supply its proprietary computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) that can handle the day-to-day operation of OW’s project portfolio.

Since its start in 2014, Shoreline Wind introduced an integrated life-cycle asset management cloud platform, which provides solutions from early project development and analysis to complex field service optimization in the operational phase.

For Peter Sutton, director of O&M and asset management at Ocean Winds, industry knowledge, out-of-the-box integrated modules, scalability and fast onboarding were key in selecting Shoreline Wind as a software supplier.

“We have successfully worked with Shoreline Wind’s Design solution on all our development projects for several years, and it was a natural choice to continue the good relationship into the execution phase for our projects,” Sutton said. “As OW’s portfolio will continue to accelerate its global growth, the selected EAM software would need to cope with increasingly high number of additions in projects, users, tasks and assets going forward. With a scalable foundation for all our bottom-fixed and floating offshore wind farms, we can start benchmarking and managing all assets in one platform. The first implemented project was Moray East, and we managed to successfully complete training and onboarding within a very short time frame, allowing us to quickly start maximizing asset availability”

The CMMS and Enterprise Asset Management agreement includes a global array of both bottom-fixed and floating wind projects, including Mayflower Wind in Massachusetts.

Shoreline’s additional services will provide asset status overview, planning and scheduling, inventory management and resource availability.

“This agreement shows that the wind industry is moving into a new digital era,” said Michael Bjerrum, CCO of Shoreline Wind. “Maintaining business-critical wind farm data has become far too complex and prohibit many projects from operating within the targets for cost-efficiency while improving availability. Together with Ocean Winds, we can improve the way, the wind industry defines CMMS. As a SaaS software, the CMMS solution will constantly be optimized based on the ongoing requirements and experience from Ocean Winds, but also from other market-leading offshore operators and turbine OEMs in Shoreline Wind’s portfolio. A future-proof setup for enterprise asset management.”
