PSI Repair Services to showcase its product upgrade capabilities at the AWEA WINDPOWER 2014

By Paul Dvorak | April 23, 2014

PSI Repair Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Phillips Service Industries and an independent service provider (ISP) to the wind energy industry, will showcase its product upgrade capabilities to wind farm operations and maintenance (O&M) professionals at the AWEA WINDPOWER 2014 Conference & Exhibition.

The most common product upgrade service performed at PSI is printed circuit boards. In certain scenarios, PSI engineers provide new replacement circuit boards with enhanced technology.

This flexible, cost-effective engineering service involves enhancing legacy components with newer, more reliable technology to improve performance and extend the component’s life. Two other widely sought product upgrades are the GE 1.5MW S Series Xantrex Matrix Inverter and the Clipper 2.5MW Xantrex Inverter. These convenient drop-in replacement solutions allow wind farms to supplement their shrinking inventory with more dependable, longer-lasting products, all while keeping their turbines online. In addition, PSI provides comprehensive remanufacturing services for unsalvageable, obsolete components. “Thanks to innovative engineering services like product upgrades, PSI actively supports all the largest wind farms in the United States,” said Mike Fitzpatrick, General Manager of PSI Repair Services, Inc. “No other ISP in the wind energy market offers more cost-saving solutions than PSI.”

The company offers component repair and engineering services for GE, Vestas, Siemens and Clipper wind turbines. PSI covers the critical electronic, hydraulic and precision mechanical components that drive the turbines’ pitch and yaw systems and down-tower electronics. Commonly repaired components include printed circuit boards, pitch drive systems, inverters, IGBTs, PLCs, VRCC units, AEBIs, proportional valves, hydraulic pumps, pitch and yaw motors, encoders, slip rings, transducers, and more. PSI uses the latest diagnostic tools to detect failures down to the microchip level.

The WINDPOWER 2014 Conference & Exhibition takes place May 5-8 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. PSI Repair Services will be exhibiting in Booth 3170. For more information about the WINDPOWER Conference & Exhibition, visit www.windpowerexpo.org.
