NRG strengthens U.S. Lidar business with hire of new remote-sensing expert

By Michelle Froese | November 14, 2017

NRG Systems, a designer and manufacturer of smart technologies, has announced the hire of Barry Logue as the company’s Lidar Wind Energy Solutions Manager. Logue, a veteran in the remote-sensing space, will be responsible for all sales and account management for NRG’s Lidar products and services in North America.

As a member of U.S. and international standards committees, Logue played a pivotal role in the release of new best practice and formal standards for remote-sensing devices in wind-power applications encompassing the entire wind-farm lifecycle.

Logue previously served as the Global Applications Manager for Vaisala, as well as the Director of Sales at Second Wind, where he helped establish new applications for remote sensing in wind resource assessment, as well as operational data reporting.

As a member of both U.S. and international standards committees, Logue played a pivotal role in the release of new best practice and formal standards for remote-sensing devices in wind energy applications encompassing the entire wind farm lifecycle. He earned his MBA from Suffolk University in Boston and has a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Boston University.

“I was impressed by the dedication and commitment NRG Systems has to the renewable energy industry and the impact the company has had, and will continue to have, on our global and individual well-being,” said Logue. “NRG Systems considers its staff to be a key element of its continued success, and I expect to work with the NRG product development and support teams to expand the largest operating fleet of wind Lidars for wind resource and wind-farm operations.”

NRG Systems has offered Lidar technology since 2009, thanks to a partnership with industry leader Leosphere. The global joint venture aims to expand the use of remote sensing in the wind energy industry and, most recently, in meteorology. NRG Systems offers several Lidar systems that are uniquely designed for wind resource assessment, wind turbine optimization, and various professional weather enterprise applications within air-quality management, weather intelligence, aerospace, and research.

Gregory Erdmann, VP, Global Sales at NRG Systems, added: “We are excited to have Barry join us at NRG Systems. His experience in the industry – especially in regard to remote sensing – is valuable for our customers as his technical knowledge is deep and spans several technologies and product lines.”
