Is that light-cured adhesive cured? Detector tells

By Paul Dvorak | June 15, 2011

Loctite AssureCure equipment occupies little space and positions directly after a production line’s existing light cure equipment.

An adhesive manufacturer has introduced a new way to quantitatively and cost- assess the degree of cure of light-cure adhesives. A simple in-line process, Loctite AssureCure, includes a new adhesive, fiber optic light sources, a light detector unit, and software that ties into the users’ PC or PLC. A few benefits include:

  • Confirm cure inline on 100% of production in just 20 milliseconds per part
  • Eliminate costly off-line destructive or analytical testing and associated scrap
  • Improve production rates, and it
  • Easily works into existing production lines.

AssureCure data shows exceptional correlation to traditional off-line methods of confirming degree of cure, such as physical destructive testing and FTIR analysis. Compared with alternative cure detection methods, such as fluorescing and color changing adhesives or destructive and analytical testing, Loctite AssureCure provides a reliable in-line method to confirm degree of cure.
