Ohio sets public hearing date for proposed Republic Wind Farm

By Michelle Froese | July 24, 2018

Republic Wind map

The Republic Wind Farm would consist of about 58 wind turbines, spaced approximately 1/4 to 1/2 mile apart on active farmland. The project is expected to create well over 100 full-time-equivalent jobs during construction.

The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) will hold a hearing for the public to express views about Apex Clean Energy‘s Republic Wind’s proposal to construct a wind-powered electric generation facility in parts of Seneca and Sandusky counties.

The proposed Republic Wind Farm would be situated across approximately 24,000 acres of leased private land in Adams, Pleasant, Reed, Scipio and Thompson townships in Seneca County, and York Township in Sandusky County. The facility would consist of up to 58 wind turbines with a total generating capacity of up to 200 MW.

The local public hearing is scheduled as follows:

Oct. 2, 2018, at 6pm
VFW Post
5900 State Route 778
Green Springs, Ohio 44836

The adjudicatory hearing in this proceeding will begin at 10am on October 15, 2018, at the offices of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, Hearing Room 11-D, 180 E. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43215.

The purpose of the adjudicatory hearing is to allow formal parties to the case to present pre-filed testimony and evidence, and to cross examine other parties’ witnesses. The OPSB has not yet scheduled a date for the final decision in this case.

Additional information regarding the proposed facility is available on the OPSB website, in case number 17-2295-EL-BGN.
