Freezing temperatures can slow down decision-making and lead to unintentional mistakes, according to Ergodyne. This means outdoor workers should make staying warm a priority.

In preparation of the winter months ahead, Ergodyne announced its launch of new products to their extensive line of N-Ferno cold-weather gear. These new additions come just in time as retailers and customers start to think ahead to the winter months.

“We listened to worker feedback on the type of protection they need on the job in the winter, and made some additions and improvements to some of our best-sellers,” says Alsie Nelson, Senior Product Manager, Ergodyne.

Some improvements include adding a universal bump cap insert into their popular balaclava face mask and beanie hat.

“Worker-generated impacts to the head are often overlooked, but can result in nasty injuries that lead to lost time and substantial expense,” adds Nelson. “Adding bump cap functionality to these winter worksite favorites is an easy, cost-effective measure for mitigating the harm those accidents cause.”

Other worker-centered additions to this lineup include a beanie cap with super-bright LED lights for up-close and distance illumination, warm hard hat liners with detachable mouthpieces, a neoprene mouthpiece for hard hat winter liners, and a soft knit hat with reflective badge.

Ergodyne announced a major addition to their Skullerz lineup of personal protective equipment with the launch of their new hard hats — available in full-brim or cap style and Class C or Class E protection. This line of hard hats is a first for the company.

Skullerz Hard Hats are tested to meet and exceed industrial safety standards, and are certified to be worn forward or reverse donning.

“We’ve gotten some great feedback from our field testers that it’s the most comfortable hard hat they’ve ever worn,” says Chis Cota, Senior Product Manager, Ergodyne.

Built with a lightweight, flexible and airy 4-point suspension that can be easily adjusted for size with one hand, Skullerz Hard Hats offer workers improved balance, ventilation, and fit for all day comfort. Adjustable vents that workers can open or close dependent on the weather are also available in Class C models, while removable sweat bands and breathable, moisture-wicking top pads come standard with all models to counter the effects of working in the heat.

Answering a common issue when it comes to securing a headlamp to a hard hat, all Skullerz Hard Hats are designed with a front and rear integrated slot to securely attach Ergodyne’s new removable, magnetic headlamp, available separately or with some models.

Additional considerations like accessory slots to comfortably accommodate other common personal protective gear accessories, such as ear protection, face shields, and chin straps round out this hard hat’s offering of worker-first details.

Skullerz Hard Hats are tested to meet and exceed industrial safety standards, and are certified to be worn forward or reverse donning.

“This is the next generation in head protection,” says Tom Votel, President and CEO, Ergodyne. “The hard hat has been around for 100 years so it’s nothing new, of course, but there’s always room for improvement – and everything we’ve heard from safety managers and workers so far suggests we’ve done that with this exciting new addition to the Skullerz line.”

Ergodyne will be keeping workers cool in the heat this summer with the launch of its new Lightweight Phase Change Cooling Vest. Designed to be 30 to 60% lighter weight than other cooling vests on the market, this vest maintains temperature of 59° F for up to two hours when activated.

he Chill-Its® Lightweight Phase Change Cooling Vest keeps workers cooler, safer and more productive. Its 100% biodegradable phase change cooling material maintains a 59° F / 15° C temperature for up to two hours when activated.

The Chill-Its Lightweight Phase Change Cooling Vest is 100% biodegradable with a phase change cooling material that maintains a 59° F temperature for up to two hours when activated.

Most cooling vests work by evaporation, which means they require airflow to work properly. This also means that they are unable be worn under clothing or PPE. Ergodyne’s newest Phase Change Cooling Vest solves that problem by using two biodegradable phase change cooling packs that are quickly charged in a freezer or cooler and require no airflow to work. The vest is only 4 lbs (1.8kg) when filled with packs.

Heat stress on the job is cause for concern for safety managers and crews. With summers on average trending toward higher temps and more heatwaves, it is important to have solutions to keep workers cool. Even workers who work inside are at risk of heat-related illness if they’re in areas with no air conditioning, or working around furnaces or other hot equipment.

This new Phase Change Vest works indoors and out, under clothing or over it.

The 6250 Lightweight Phase Change Cooling Vest comes with four removable biodegradable cooling packs. The packs can be activated in a fridge, freezer, a cooler of ice, or near an air conditioner, and will provide up to two hours of cooling. The cooling packs feature a grid design to maintain flexibility.

For a comfortable custom fit, Ergodyne is also launching the 6240 Elastic Vest Extenders. These extenders go on quickly with hook-and-loop fabric and add up to an extra 3.5 inches of room.
