Installed wind-power capacity is expected to nearly double in Poland from close to 3.8 GW today to 6.8 GW by the end of 2019.

Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, has sold a 24-MW wind farm in Poland to Windflower, from the Israeli Sunflower group.

The Suchań wind farm, developed and promoted by Gamesa, was built under turnkey project modality and is located in West Pomerania Province, in northwestern Poland. The project is comprised of 12 Gamesa G97-2.0 MW wind turbines.

Under the terms of the agreement, Gamesa will provide the facility’s operation and maintenance services for a period of 15 years. The wind farm was commissioned during the last quarter of 2015.

Poland’s wind-power market is expected to grow. According to consultancy BTM, Poland is expected to be the sixth largest market in Europe in terms of megawatts installed during the next four years. Installed capacity is also expected to almost double from close to 3.8 GW today to 6.8 GW by the end of 2019.

Gamesa in Poland operates in turbine delivery, installation, and O&M services and wind-farm development and sales. Since it won its first contract in 2006 in this market, the company has installed more than 700 MW and maintains close to 650 MW.
