Evaluation of VGs on Suzlon S88 turbines shows 2.5% AEP increase

By Joshua Smalley | August 11, 2015

UpWind’s VG solution has been proven on the Suzlon S88 technology with a 2.5% AEP increase.

Smart Blade recently completed a report that shows its methodology used to determine the final result of a 2.5% increase in AEP from the VG Solution specifically installed on Suzlon S88 turbines.

Key lessons:

  • Actual AEP increase from VG installation
  • AEP calculation methodology
  • Power vs Power approach
  • Computation of relative yield differences

Over the past 3 years, the solution has also been proven on multiple other turbine models through collaborative testing with operators. The post-processing methodology that is used by Smart Blade is vital to giving owners and operators a clear understanding of how the VG solution will affect their AEP, and what ROI they can expect from their investment in VGs.
