A new interactive map from Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) shows where renewable energy is being generated across Ohio, the location of public EV charging stations and schools with solar panels, and where nearly 650 Ohio clean-energy businesses (solar, wind, energy efficiency, and geothermal) are located.
“Clean-energy businesses are in every corner of Ohio, and it’s important that investments in energy efficiency and renewable-energy programs continue to help this booming sector grow,” said Micaela Preskill, midwest states advocate at E2. “E2 created this mapping tool to help policymakers, lawmakers, and electricity customers better understand Ohio’s clean-energy economy and the role it plays in communities across Ohio.”
Strong clean-energy standards in Ohio have supported the growth of a healthy industry. There are clean-energy businesses in 92 out of all 99 state house legislative districts. In particular, energy-efficiency contractors dominate the map.
In addition to the locations of energy-efficiency companies and solar, wind, and geothermal installers, the map depicts existing and proposed utility-scale wind-, solar-, and hydroelectric-generation facilities larger than 1 MW and schools with solar-energy generation and public EV fueling stations. The 650 clean-energy businesses shown in the map cover every corner of the state, but some counties are clearly leading the way.
