INFORMATION

LOCATION: SE Wheaton - Forest Preserve District of DuPage County headquarters,  west side of Naperville road, north of Warrenville rd. and south of Butterfield rd.

OVERVIEW:

The Windrunner 10K is brought to you by the Lisle Windrunner running club and Dick Pond Athletics.  This is a CARA Registered race on a USATF certified course.  It is run entirely within the forest preserves of Danada and Herrick Lake, with no traffic, except perhaps some wildlife.  Proceeds from the race benefit the Illinois Special Olympics.  A prized commemorative T-shirt to the first 350 who register on line. Overall and five-year age group awards.  There will be refreshments, fun and be sure to stay for your chance at winning one of many raffle prizes. See results below.

COURSE:             

The Windrunner 10K race is a scenic partially shaded, flat to rolling course on limestone trails. The race begins and ends on the Danada Equestrian track located at the DuPage Forest Preserve HQ in Wheaton. The trail loops through the Danada and Herrick Lake Forest Preserves with split times at each mile and four water stations spaced throughout. The course is USATF Certified

DIRECTIONS:    

From I-88, exit Naperville road and go north approximately 3/4 mile. From Butterfield Road (Rte 56), turn south on Naperville road and go approximately 1/2 mile.  

PARKING:           

Parking is available on the east side of Naperville Rd at the Equestrian Center (walk to registration under Naperville rd. tunnel) with overflow on west side of Naperville Rd in the DuPage Forest Preserve HQ parking lot. Give yourself a couple of extra minutes to walk back under Naperville Rd to the Registration area on the west side, where gear check is available.

REGISTRATION:              

Online registration is available until 12p.m. August 26, 2005.   Mail in registration must be received by August 26, 2005. Registration is available on race day between 6:45 a.m. and 7:45: a.m. for a minimum $25.00 dollar donation. There is a $1.00 Discount for CARA Members or FRTR Members. Only one discount per runner, and no discount on race day.  Register one of four ways:

PACKET PICKUP:  

Packet pick-up can be handled at Dick Pond Athletics, 2783 Maple Ave., Lisle - Friday 8/27 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM & Saturday 8/28 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM 

Packet pick up on race day will be available on the race track infield from 6:45 AM to 7:45 AM.

GEAR CHECK:                   

Gear Check will be available at the Registration tent.

AWARDS:                           

Handsome and unique awards will be presented to the first three male and female overall winners, and five year age group awards through 70 plus. The one-of-a-kind middle of the pack award goes to the runner who finishes exactly in the middle.

PREMIUMS:        

Quality commemorative race shirts to the first 350 entrants. Goodie bag with stuff, and over $1,000 in raffle prizes.
